The Tannery Bannach over its more than 45 years of existence has acquired extensive experience in the vegetable tanning, becoming a world reference in quality of its hides. Its main products are: sole leather bends, sole leather shoulders, insoles leather shoulder, and also cut soles. Products are used in the manufacture of soles, belts, saddlery and crafts in general. Currently the Tannery Bannach meets all Brazilian states and exports to all continents, has 2000 hides / day production capacity and is located in Mafra / SC - Brazil, privileged place near the main ports in southern Brazil.

this is the very best leather as it is strong, generally damage-free and of a consistent thickness as it didn't move much when the animal was alive. This area is typically the premium area of the hide with the least amount of waste. It's the thickest and firmest part, and is best suited to items that require minimum stretch and maximum firmness.

BR1 / BR2 - First grades of hides with small tick marks and little scratches. Usage: soles of natural finishings or light colours.
BR3 - More heavy defects, deep scratches and more tick marks. Usage: Welt, buffed soles, coloured finishings and rubber insert soles.
BR4 - Lowest grade, with heavy defects as knife cuts on flesh side and open scratches.
Usage: midsoles and coloured outsoles.
Shoulder - this is a softer area of the hide, often used for making insoles. Hides from the side and shoulders are relatively stronger, thicker, and more durable compared to the belly.

this is the cheapest commonly-available portion of a hide as it's not the highest quality. As it was underneath the cow it will be covered in stretch marks, variable thickness and often damaged. It's still useful for really small projects as crafts.
